John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he wrote, most of which were situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's iconic anthems for Colorado are a source of inspiration for many to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver was the very one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many around the world. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other end of the planet, or someone from New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the very first thing that comes they say is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief time in small folk groups. Danoff composed the track with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver heard an early version it was clear that the track could become a hit single. The song was first recorded a few weeks after the Washington D.C. performance.
