John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people through his songs of pop-folk, many of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born singer-songwriter who fell in adore with Colorado. Denver's songs that he sang about his adopted home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the very initial Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many across the globe. In all my travels I've encountered many non-Colorado residents. Colorado. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk group comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the song with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver heard an early version he knew right away the song could be an instant hit. The song was recorded just a few days following having performed on stage in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
